Another Graphic is a digital archive of typographic work in graphic design, curated by Studio Studio for more than ten years as an ongoing exercise in looking, sorting and keeping track of what is happening in the field. What began as an internal reference, a way of holding our own interest in typography open to the work of other designers, gradually attracted an audience of its own, and at a certain point it became clear that the archive needed an identity and an infrastructure that matched the use it was getting.

Alongside the renewed identity, an online platform was developed as a working tool for the archive, allowing entries to be researched, classified and found by criteria that reflect how typographic work is actually looked at: by treatment, by structure, by detail. The visual register is drawn from the idea of a classified archive in the literal, bureaucratic sense, a body of documents kept in order for the purpose of consultation, and the design decisions follow from that premise rather than from a mood or a style.

The identity is set in Monotesk, a typeface developed in-house by Studio Studio in collaboration with Emma Marichal specifically for the platform, sitting at the intersection of a grotesk and a monospaced face, a hybrid that carries the rhythm of a typewriter without committing to it. Monotesk is available through Studio Studio’s type foundry Typo Typo at typotypo.be.

Another Graphic is accessible through the website anothergraphic.org and through its social channels under @anothergraphicdotorg on Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr and Facebook, where it is maintained as a reference for designers working with type.
