For the publication 1+1=ÉÉN, designer Katrijn Oelbrandt requested contributions to her research into tactility and layering. Oelbrandt’s work process relies heavily on analog actions and sticker sheets that function within a fixed grid. The contribution ‘Typewriter’ is a direct response to this physical approach. By using an analog typewriter exclusively, text printing is reduced to a mechanical action. The resulting sheets display an irregular typographic texture in which the ink penetrates directly into the material. It is a tangible document that objectifies the restrictions of the machine and distances itself from digital perfection.
